Estimated Salaries for Class of 2022 Graduates With a Bachelor’s Degree

Many graduates will secure a job before or right after they graduate, but their salaries may not be what they expect. With the assumption that many graduates will have student loans to repay, it’s vital that their new jobs can not only pay for their bills but for the debt they’ve accumulated while pursuing their degrees. Thankfully, NACE (National Association of Colleges and Employers) has provided salary projections for the incoming Class of 2022 students graduating with a bachelor’s degree.

Here’s an overview of NACE’s projections:

  • Those graduating with a degree in mathematics or the sciences can expect a 5.4% salary increase. In comparison, the agricultural sciences and natural resources graduates can expect a 14.8% decrease compared to the Class of 2021’s projections. According to NACE, these estimates differ from last year, as employers only projected salary increases across all majors rather than any decreases.

  • Mathematics and science graduates are also expected to receive higher paying starting salaries than other majors. These graduates have a salary projection of $66,760, which is 5.4% higher than their major counterparts from the Class of 2021’s salary projections.

  • Out of all the degrees, computer science graduates are expected to receive the highest salary increase at 5.2% ($75,900). Last year, they were also the highest-paid major with $72,173.

  • The second highest paying salary projected are engineering graduates, with $73,922. Again, this is a 4% increase from last year’s projections.

  • For business major graduates, their salary projection for 2022 rose to $66,695, which is 3.1% higher than last year’s salary.

  • Humanities graduates have an average projected salary of $50,681, a significant drop from the Class of 2021 salary projection of $59,500, a 14.8% decrease.

  • Graduates with a degree in communications also saw a decrease in a salary projection from $58,174 for the Class of 2021 to $50,681 for this year’s predictions.
